Johanna Shook, DVM
Dr. Johanna Shook was born and raised in Central Maryland. At the age of nine, she announced her intent to become a veterinarian and never strayed from that path. She graduated summa com laude from University of Maryland with a Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science. Then she went on to graduate from the University of Tennessee College of Veterinary Medicine with honors in 1999. Upon graduation, Dr. Shook accepted a job in a mixed animal practice in east Tennessee. A few years later, she moved back to Maryland to be closer to family. Since that time, she has balanced raising 3 children, homeschooling, and working, first in emergency medicine and then small animal medicine. Dr. Shook is excited to return full time to her first passion, animals. She lives in western Howard County with her husband, 3 children, 2 cats, 2 goats, and 1 rabbit. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family, spending time outdoors, and being an active member of her church.
